Nature in Transition - Hike at Rockwood Conservation Area

Sunday, September 29, 2019 - 10:00

Nature in Transition is where our inner trans and non-binary nature meets the wondrous natural world around us - in a series aimed at cultivating emotional wellness, positive well-being, confidence, and connection through mindfulness-based nature hikes.

This hike's theme will be our first of a series on "NATURE'S RESILIENCY"

Being transgender or gender non-conforming comes with it's own unique kinds of stressors and barriers to living well - from navigating daily life, such as work and washrooms, to larger concerns around unpacking internalized transphobia, and existing in the world in it's current social-political and environmental state, many are finding it difficult to find strategies to take care of themselves and their well-being, let alone finding ways to celebrate pleasure, joy, and self actualization in the process. This walk will focus on reflections and prompts that allow us to explore what moving from a "surviving" mentality into fully embodying our most resilient and creative selves, with the capacity to find ways of surviving together, of dreaming and working to realizing what it means to see ourselves thriving in the world at large as fully empowered people of all genders. We will look to nature for inspiration and draw from the peace of being immersed in the natural world.

THIS HIKE BEGINS AT 10AM AT ROCKWOOD CONSERVATION AREA
