Outreach
Harm reduction practice recognizes that a certain percentage of the population will use drugs and the goal is to reduce the harm that might result from drug use. Harm reduction decreases the adverse health, social and economic consequences of substance use, for the user and the community, without requiring abstinence.

The Harm Reduction and Outreach program provide services to individuals and groups through Community Outreach, the Stay Sharp Needle Exchange Program, Counselling, Practical Support and Education for Safer Sex and Safer Drug Use Information.

We are upgrading our services to meet best practice guidelines to improve the support we are providing. Supplies are available at four locations throughout Guelph, Wednesday and Thursday night on the mobile health outreach van service offered through Sanguen Health Centre, ARCH and Public Health.

Community Outreach
Harm Reduction Outreach staff and peer workers provide harm reduction supplies and HIV prevention education to a variety of populations at the Drop-in Centres, Shelters and on the streets of downtown Guelph.
